The Last Look: The Sea (To Icaria)
Wrought iron and steel plate, 25 x 62 x 18 cm - 1996

This iron work – the first version of which I made in wood (upper right) – was conceived as a sculpture and as a model at the same time. The title refers to the last vision that the people shot at Camp de la Bota had: the sea. The wall shows the impact of the missed bullets. The subtitle "Icaria" is a tribute to the utopian socialists called cabetian circles who settled in Poblenou. The version in real scale, however, is at the Parc de la Villa of Esparreguera, and I called it Utopia.
